PUZZLEBOX NEWS

Welcome to the wonderful world of Puzzlebox.  This page hasn't been properly updated in quite a while, so I'm going to make that doesn't happen again.  I've had some serious problems occurring in my life, and it's finally taken care of itself.  Now, I've got a lot of free time to devote to finishing up my new album, which is currently titled, "Insert Slowly," although I've changed my mind over a dozen times since the creation of this project.  Have patience; this album should be out later this year.

Since the last update, I've put the finishing touches on two new tracks, which are called "Sacrifice (Live)" and "Male Prostitute," which is actually a breakthrough for Puzzlebox.  Why, you ask?  Well, mainly because it is one of the few songs that I've created that include actual lyrics.  That's right, I''ve got lyrically, although you really shouldn't expect anything poetic.  I'm not that kind of a writer.  Try to keep your expectations a little on the demented side, and everything should work out perfectly.

And just in case you all don't know, you can now reach me 24-hours-a-day though my new e-mail account.  And, yes, I will respond to your e-mailing.  I'm not like that.  Anyway, you can get me at [email protected].  Just click the link there if you wish.  So if you're a record label, club, or a fellow musician who just wants to shoot the shit, please feel free to drop me a line.

Until then, thanks for stopping by and take care.

DOWNLOADS

This is just a simple section of the page where you can download all kinds of samples from the upcoming album, "Insert Slowly."  I will say this one thing before I allow you to cruise on down to the actual files;  these files are sampled at a very low sample rate so that I can fit them on my server.  If anyone is interested in obtaining an .mp3 file of a particular song, just e-mail me at [email protected] and I shall see what I can do about getting you one.  Because these files are not good representations of my music.  However, it will give you an idea of what I sound like.

As noted, all of these songs should appear on the forthcoming album.  Although the final track listing is not yet complete, since I'm not done with writing the music, I'm hoping that most of them should appear on there.  I'm limited to ten tracks for the album, but I've 6 finished and 10 in progress.  So there's no way to tell what will show up.  Anyway, I hope you enjoy the samples.  Check back every now and again, because you never know when I'll be uploading more music.

LYRICS

Although Puzzlebox isn't really a lyrical band, some of the songs that I've put forth do include lyrics.  However, only one of them has been finished.  So, if you want, here is the lyrics for "Male Prostitute," which is performed by Puzzlebox and M.C. Synthetic, the other person in the band.  Although, perhaps you should read up on M.C. Synthetic before you start to fall in love.

Performed by Puzzlebox and M.C. Synthetic.

"I love M.C. Synthetic"
But I don't like you bitch

Your father sucks my fat cock
He bought my ass from the docks

I stand on the corner
Trying to sell my dick
Because that's what I do
I'm a queer male prostitute

Oh yeah, bitch
Yeah, man
I'm a queer male prostitute (Queer Male Prostitute)

Yeah, this song is rather crude, but hey, it's a lyrical song.  It's not meant to be serious; it's meant to provoke laughter.  If you took this song seriously, hey, lighten up a bit.  Because seriousness isn't what I'm out when I write lyrics.  There are too many serious songs out there.  So I try to do my part by lightening up the scene with a little humor.

BIOGRAPHY

Todd Rigney, that would be me, started out in the early 90's with a folk-rock band called CLiCHe that mainly stuck to playing house parties and small gatherings around the good town of Lexington, Ky.  However, due to the suicide of his best friend and lead guitarist, the group broke up and simply went their seperate ways.  Very different avenues were taken.

Whle the other members of CLiCHe decided to stick with the folk-rock scene, Todd discovered the underground electronic / hip-hop scene and quickly dived in.  In July of 1997, he released his first solo album through J-Bird Records under the name of Industry Of Sound.  However, due to the lousy quality that the CD contains, he abandon support for the album and returned to the underground, where he started to gather his thoughts.

After getting his grubby little paws on a drum machine and softsynth, he returned to the music scene with an EP that never saw the light of day.  Puzzlebox was born, yet nobody heard them.

Just recently, due to some serious illnesses within the family, Puzzlebox went on hiatus, and the album "Endless City Streets" was pretty much abandon.  Within the past few months, Todd has regained his strength and reworked all of the previous songs into a drum-n-bass meets ambient setting, and along with newcomer M.C. Synthetic, has returned to the music scene once again with the hope that the forthcoming album entitled "Insert Slowly" will be a local hit.

That's pretty much it.  As far as my "real job" goes, I work night shifts at Lexmark International.  Hell, if you see me out there, I work on Line B Fusers, stop and talk to me.  I really don't mind.

Take care and thanks for stopping by the website.

M.C. SYNTHETIC

Before anyone decides that they're going to write me in hopes of talking to M.C. Synthetic, er, let's get some information about this mysterious lyrical master out in the open right now.

I am M.C. Synthetic.  But not in the physical sense.  I write the lyrics that my beloved friend speaks.  You see, my buddy is nothing more than a text-to-speech translator.  Amazing, eh?  That's all he is.

I've decided to give him a name basically because, well, it's not really me, so it has been be something else.  So, since he's not real, I decided that this name would fit just right.  And it does.  Although some people will probably be a little upset that I'm using a text-to-speech system for the lyrical content, I'm really not too worried about it.  I like the way it sounds.

Do you really want to hear our beloved M.C. Synthetic talk?  Well, just click below for a sample of his voice!  Just a small note:  this guy is meant to sound cheesy.  That's the whole point of using this kind of device for lyrics.
